Winter Rum Sour
WINTER IS COMING, but it doesn’t have to be scary. With this cocktail entertaining over the winter months will be a breeze. I combined two of my favorite citrus cocktails for this one, the Daiquiri, and the Sour. I actually started with the Monin winter citrus syrup with a profile based around citruses like blood orange with notes of honey and even a little rosemary which is what drew me in but then wanted to up the ante with some fresh ruby red grapefruit and lemon juices. With all that citrus going around I wanted a spirit that would still hold its own and thought some rum would do the trick but I didn’t want an aged rum as I wanted the earthy notes to play with the citrus and honey so I grabbed a bottle of white rum and it all came together deliciously.
Recipe:
- 2 ounces white rum
- ¾ ounce ruby red grapefruit juice
- ¾ ounce lemon juice
- ¾ Monin winter citrus syrup
- 1 egg white
Method:

- Strain into a coupe glass
- Garnish with a lemon twist and grapefruit
- Enjoy!
