Winterized Radler
While visiting family for the holidays I was shopping at Walmart and in the alcohol section this giant magnum of Heineken caught my eye and I thought it would be great for a cocktail shoot. I have made a few beer cocktails in the past and found a good pale lager that is perfect to add a little depth to the cocktail without overpowering the other flavors.
The Radler is one of the most popular beer cocktails and has a long history in German-speaking countries where Radler translates to “Cyclist” although the true history is lost of the origins of the cocktail it is said that was created because cyclists needed a refreshing drink that was lighter in alcohol. Though the original creation calls for equal parts beer and lemonade so with the modern addition of hard alcohol I think this cocktail has only gotten better with age.
