Tropical Tequila Delight
Today I am sharing a boozy summer tropical drink to jumpstart the season of warmer weather. When I shot this cocktail I was in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and boy was the weather hot. I love taking advantage of the weather by sitting by the pool and sipping on a nice tropical cocktail. For starters, I love Piña Coladas and Margaritas but sometimes you want to upgrade those treats into something different. That is where this cocktail comes into play it has tequila and yellow Chartreuse as the base spirits. Yellow Chartreuse is a slightly intimating spirit to work with and just for the record, I thought the same thing when I picked up my first bottle of Campari. Interestingly enough this liqueur started being produced in 1732 in France by Monks. How cool is that? For these liqueurs, you just have to experiment a bit with flavors and you will find a perfect balance especially if you have mastered some of the classics using the liqueur. Then you can tweak ingredients and add your favorite twist.
Recipe:
- 1.5 ounces of tequila
- 1/2 ounce of yellow Chartreuse
- 1 ounce of pineapple juice
- 1 ounce lime juice
- 1/2 ounce of agave syrup
- 1.5 cups of ice
Method:
- Combine all ingredients in the cocktail shaker with ice
- Shake to chill and combine the ingredients
- Strain into a wine glass over fresh ice
- Garnish & Enjoy!
