Sapphire Zephyr
I think when it comes to the true classic cocktails there is a pretty fair spread over the spirits and each has a role to play in today’s bartending where everyone is looking to create something original and we all just end up making a variation on something that already exists, even if we didn’t plan to. So today I planned to do exactly that and instead of trying to create something new I instead worked with Bombay Sapphire to take classic vodka cocktails and mix them with gin to provide them the added benefits of the citrus and juniper notes of the gin.
I tried a lot of different classic variations, and of course, they were all delicious, but the one that stood out above the rest was the classic Sea Breeze cocktail with a delicious mélange of cranberry, lime, and pink grapefruit juices. The vodka in this drink is delicious as the flavor from the fresh juices blends really well. However, once I substituted in the Bombay Sapphire I noticed a slight change in the balance of the cocktail and an additional light pine aroma on the nose that really set it apart.
