Borderies by the Beach
I absolutely love Cognac, the beautiful region, gracious people, and of course the delectable, elegant, sophisticated tipple that gets its namesake from the region. It’s a great product to celebrate any occasion, however, today is the best day of all, as it’s finally National Cognac Day. So get out that special bottle you have tucked away in your cabinet and enjoy a little tipple to celebrate, or do what we do, and mix it into a delicious tropical tiki cocktail to escape this heat. If you didn’t have your calendar marked already, make sure you always remember that June 4th is National Cognac Day, ever since its inception at the turn of the century.
We are excited to partner with Camus Cognac for this special day and wanted to create something appropriate for the current weather, while still keeping it fun. The Tiki revival is pretty much revived by now, and I am all for it so when I’m home mixing cocktails I always try to sneak in a few tiki-inspired cocktails, and with the current heatwave in NC I may be shaking up more and more tropical concoctions. The Camus VSOP Borderies has some great notes of oranges and a little spice, so it was perfect for this cocktail and I balanced these with pineapple juice and indulgent toasted coconut syrup. I know it seems a little rich with all of those ingredients, but this is where the yellow Chartreuse and lime juice come into play; with these components, the cocktail finds its center and the aromatic bitters really are the proverbial “cherry” on top.
Recipe:
- 1.5 ounces Camus VSOP Borderies
- ¾ ounce yellow Chartreuse
- 1 ounce pineapple juice
- 1 ounce lime juice
- ½ ounces coconut syrup
- 3 dashes aromatic bitters
Method:
- Combine all ingredients, except bitters, in a cocktail shaker with ice
- Shake to chill and combine ingredients
- Strain into a cocktail glass over crushed ice
- Dash bitters over the top
- Garnish & Enjoy!
