Boozy Jalapeño Poppers with Avocado Sauce

Make these Jalapeño Poppers with Avocado Sauce for your friends and/or family this weekend and they will love the boozy kick of Maker’s Mark!

Ingredients:

  • 12 fresh jalapeños, halved lengthwise with seeds and stems removed
  • 6 ounces of cream cheese
  • ½ pound of peppered center-cut bacon, diced
  • ¼ cup of parmesan cheese
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 3 ounces of Maker’s Mark Whisky
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup avocado sauce (*see recipe below)

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and grease a baking sheet
  2. In a medium bowl mix together cream cheese, lime juice, and salt/pepper
  3. In a medium frying pan over medium heat, render bacon until crispy. Remove bacon from the pan and drain on a paper towel.
  4. Discard any bacon grease and deglaze the pan with 3 ounces of Maker’s Mark and add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Reduce heat.
  5. Add bacon back to the pan and coat with Marker’s Mark mixture.
  6. Let mixture cool then add to cream cheese mixture.
  7. Spoon the mixture into jalapenos and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  8. Arrange poppers on the greased baking sheet and bake for 20-30 minutes.
  9. Poppers should be lightly browned.
  10. Spoon avocado sauce over poppers and serve!

*Recipe Avocado Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado, halved, pitted, and diced
  • 1.5 cups of water
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
