Art of Patron Bottle Art Contest
Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing my own one-of-a-kind piece of art with a Patron bottle as my entry for the annual Art of Patron contest. If you are a creative person I highly recommend giving it a shot yourself and entering as it is so much fun and amazing to see some of the creative ways people find to display their bottles. All entries in by October 14th go in for a chance to win the grand prize of $10,000; that’s a lot of new Patron bottles for your celebration party. Last year I used some small ceramic tiles and jeweled bees to decorate my bottle for round 1 and then followed up with a deconstructed (smashed) bottle and used the pieces to create a special sign for my home bar. If you need some inspiration for your unique one-of-a-kind creation, you should check out these amazing past entrants.
This year I was visiting family in North Carolina and my sister had the most gorgeous lamp that inspired me to create a version of my own. The first step was to remove all the labels from the bottle so I had a fresh canvas to work with. Once they were all removed I used some textured finish spray paint to give medium dust of paint over the entire bottle so as to give it some contrast but leave plenty of space for the lights I was going to put within to shine through. As you may have guessed I next got some LED fairy lights from my local craft store and once the paint had dried I put them inside the bottle to really make it special.
I then used some of my tiles and wrapped them in a fine copper wire and used the remaining wire to wrap all around the bottle to add another dimension. With the bottle now completed I moved to the base for which I found a hexagonal mirror and painted on a fine-medium coat of paint. With so much dead space even before the bottle was in place, I decided to use up the rest of the tiles that hadn’t been wrapped and glued them into place giving the base more complexity and personality. With the mirror painted and the tiles glued in place it was time to place my bottle in the middle of the base and complete my personalized piece of art.
