The Bourbon “Shake”

The name of this drink The Bourbon Shake makes me think of a dance I probably did with friends in college when we drank too much bourbon which sadly I still may or may not engage in, but that’s another story for another time. I made this shake over the weekend when the weather in Seattle was something to be desired. I was craving something heavy but I have very limited food at my house.

I totally forgot that I had some vanilla gelato left over from a big dinner party I had last week. All I could think about was a thick old-fashion milkshake to take the edge off. A regular milkshake is pretty amazing but adding booze to the mix and shaking it up makes life even better. Also, I still had a hangover from Friday night and my friend Erin swears that milkshakes cure all hangovers so I figured a boozy shake would kill two birds with one stone. Next time you’re craving liquid comfort try this boozy shake because it will make you love life even when you think the storm outside is going to destroy you.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 ounces of bourbon
  • 3 scoops of vanilla bean gelato
  • ½ cup half and half
  • 1 additional scoop of gelato

Method:

  1. In a blender combine bourbon, vanilla bean gelato, and half and half
  2. Blend until desired consistency
  3. Top with a single scoop of gelato

Note: add more ice cream if the mixture is too thin or more half-and-half if it is too thick
